Playing catch up...

So vacation is great and gives me the opportunity for tons of photos and happy faces and memories.  However, it does get me a little behind on scrapping and Project Life.  <<No complains here though, I'd take a vacation any week :) Anyway, here's a little peak at what I have coming...

A little peak at my work in progress on my desk.  I really love my little bowls from Anthropologie.  Anyone else use household bowls and items in your scraproom??  These little bowls are perfectly adorable, how could you not?

Thanks for following along <3

Back to reality...

So I've been out of town on vacation for my best friend's wedding for the past 10 days and have jumped straight back into reality this week.  It's been hard to get into my scraproom and attempt to scrap so instead I've just been browsing lately for inspiration.  I'm excited tomorrow is Friday and after work I can come home and play if I'm not too tired!

Here are a few projects that have been catching my eye.

Wanderlust Scrapbook Layout by Geralyn at Studio Calico.

Adventure Scrapbook Layout by Shanna Noel at Studio Calico.

I hope these awesome layouts helped you find some inspiration to get scrapping.  I can't wait for the weekend!

Riggly

A mason jar, finally!  This is my first ever layout using the ever so popular, mason jar.  I wasn't the biggest fan but liked the idea of little embellishments pouring out of the jar onto the page so thought I would give it a try.  Here I kept a neutral background and used bright pops of color for my accents.  Layers of paper under my photo were used from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook and Yes, Please collections.

I used watercolors for the jar and painted it purple with a mix of orange in the middle.

I kept the title tone on tone since there was already so much color with the layers and embellishments.  Washi tape is so perfect for adding little borders on your layouts, don't you think?

My little cluster of labels from my hoarded collection of October Afternoon labels.

I used sequins from Studio Calico mixed in with their wood veneer stars.  I cannot get enough of those stars, love them!

Thanks for following along, I really appreciate it!

Shadows

Who doesn't love snapping a great shadow picture??  Is it just me?  These are never really planned but sometimes just work out great.  For instance this picture really inspired me because the trees shadows grounded us, framed us, so well.

Here's a full look at the layout.  Nice neutral background, simple embellishments and a few drops of Mister Huey's.

I love these new Jillibean Soup letter stickers.  They are thin and come in a nice variety of colors.  The red woodgrain washi tapes is new to my collection and I can't believe I waited so long to get it, love it!

Here is the little cluster of embellishments including a bradlabel, wood veneer paper clip and this tab from Evalicious was perfect!

Bananagrams

Happy Tuesday everyone!  For this layout I ventured away from my comfort zone and used yellow.  I'm not a huge yellow scrapbooker but thought it was fun to challenge myself here.  The background paper gave me the inspiration since it already had the yellow splatters in the top left corner.  I created a few more touches of yellow with the yellow washi as a border up top, the title and the Today journaling card to complete the visual triangle.

Here's the full layout.  I'm loving these thickers, pretty much anything with glitter, love it!

Here's a side view to get a more dimensional look.  I had fun with layers here and of course, I have to add some veneer!

Who doesn't love label stickers?  I'm starting to love them more and more as I learn that I can just stick them pretty much anywhere and it creates a perfect little accent.

Since it's a layout about Bananagrams I figured, hey, I can use some of the letters from my wood veneer.  I liked them better black to pop off the page more.  I used my black Zing! embossing glitter powder and love how they turned out.

Thanks for stopping by =)

Washi galore...

So I just came across this amazing website via Marcy Penner's blog (looking at supplies she used in past projects.)  I just bought several rolls of washi tape and I'm in love.  I can't wait for them to come so I can add them to my collection.  Anyone else a washi tape addict?   Here are the ones I just purchased...

There are so many different washi tapes on this website it's almost overwhelming.  I had to cut myself at some point but definitely a place I will visit in the future :)

Love you to the stars and back....

I absolutely love my family and this layout shows just that.  A great picture of the five of us down in the Florida Key's on vacation in March.  The Dear Lizzy products were perfect for this layout.  I used this lovely background paper from the Heyday Collection by Studio Calico that has beachy journaling all across the background, very subtle and just perfect.  The die cuts from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection, just love these.  The matching sentiment on the falling star paper worked so well with my color scheme for this layout too.

Here's a full show of the layout.

These star brads are so fun and versatile you can add them to anything and I love that.  I backed the die cut with washi tape from the Studio Calico Front Row Scrapbook Kit.  I tied twine around my page twice for a little added texture and finished it off with a little bow.

For these stars, I created a falling star effect by letting twine fall loosely down the side of the page.  I used my watercolor crayons to create a yellow background for my wood veneer stars to give a glowing look.  I also used a strip of the lovely American Crafts Silver glitter tape for a little extra sparkle.

While I put this layout together I still feel like it's missing something.  I figured, I'll put it up and see if any of you have an idea of what I should add or if it's good the way it is.  Thanks for following along as always!

Project Life - Week 17

So I've never shared a project life spread before.  This is my first year doing project life and I truly enjoy it.  I recently just started doing one side/page weeks instead of two as I didn't seem to have enough to fill up two entire sides.  I don't have kids and I think people that have kids have a lot more going on and can capture way more.  For now, I'm giving one page spreads a try...

Here's the full spread for Week 17.  I did only one side, I've done this for the past two weeks since I sometimes don't have enough pictures and thought this would help me keep up and still enjoy project life instead of feeling like I have to find things to add.  Of course this week I had enough pictures for two spreads but went with my favorites.

I used Amy Tangerine's challenge of getty artsy in my spread this week.  I used my water color Lyra Crayons, based off Lisa Truesdell's love for them in her post, to color in the week.  Of course I had to showcase the crayons themselves as I just received them this week too!

A look at how I used this die cut to reference the week.  I used water colors to choose the month and week.  I also used water color to create this 4x6 card.  I love having control over the background colors, such a fun technique!

Here on the right I used another card from the lovely Echo Park Paper Co, happy paper. On the left, I wrote directly on the picture with my black precision pen and added a little die cut from BasicGrey.

I did mention I love shadows right?  This picture was so pefect, loved it.  I used a 4x6 card from Pebbles and cut around the "Happy Thoughts" and stuck my phto behind it.  I absoultely love the effect and dimension it gives.  I also stamped the date with my lovely Dear Lizzy stamp.

I love playing with shadows in photography, it's always a fun snapshot.  I added a little die cut from the BasicGrey pack and a couple enamel dots.  Nothing is ever complete without enamel dots, right?!?

A little closeup of the lovely glitter tape by American Crafts that I cut to a banner shape.  These are the best tapes ever, I love every color and highly recommend the value pack.  I used some simple white letter stickers to create the title on this picture/pocket and love how simple it is.  The little star is from BasicGrey and I love how it's transparent, although you can see my glue but I won't let that bother me.

I wrapped twine around this 3x4 card with an Instax picture of Riggly.  I took a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Heart and colored it white with my gel pen...best white gel pen e.v.e.r.

Thanks for following along <3  How many of you do Project Life and if so,do you keep a one page or two page spread each week?  I know the possibilities are endless with how you go about project life, I would love to hear your techniques.

Veneers are stocked!

Just in case anybody missed it, the wood veneers are back in stock by Studio Calico!!  I just bought 2 of the tiny stars, hearts & arrows and the alphabet wood veneer.  I can't wait until the people shapes are back in stock too!

I do love having this tiny veneer alphabet around, perfect little touch in a title or on a project life card.

These are the best hearts & arrows around, beautiful shapes!

I wouldn't be able to scrapbook without these tiny stars, my personal favorite!

Still waiting for this one, but can't wait.  I hope they restock it!

Spending Issue??

::Sigh:: So I think it's time to admit it, I cleary like a scrapbook buying addiction.

I buy products and get so excited and then a week later I do it again, and then again, and again...you get the picture.  Does anyone else get like this?  I always get scared that I'm going to miss out if I don't have e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.  I am starting to accumulate so many supplies and papers that it's kind of ridiculous since I obviously don't use it all.  However, when i'm buying something I think I'll need it.

I think to help myself out, it would be fun to try and create a cart full of stuff that creates into my own little kit.  I'm buying what I want instead of getting items in a subscription kit (which I don't always like every item) and then I force myself to use everything.  Any thoughts?!

As always, thanks for all your feedback and following along.

Studio Calico - Happy Little Moments Class

So there is a new class up at Studio Calico and I'm in love.  However, I'm debating with myself because the class its self is $15, nice low cost but then there is the option of the class kit, Marcy's or Maggie's for $39!  How can I choose when I want both?!?!  Is anyone else interested in this class and have any idea how to make the decision or if you're taking the plunge and going for both?  I LOVE Marcy's work but I seem to love how bright and fun Maggie's kit looks.

I've never taken a class at Studio Calico so this will be my first but I'm definitely in!  Anyone else taken a class through Studio Calico and loved it?  Hated it?  I'm assuming it's worth it...

I love the fun bright, springy colors of Maggie's Kit.

Blues and greens are some of my favorites and I'm loving this color combination from Marcy.

Hopefully I'll come to a decision today on what I want to do...

Until next time...
