Embossing tutorial and peak!

Right now I'm loving my Fiskars, circle hole punch and my Ali Edwards, Love This Memory Stamp set.  Here's a look at a few little embellishments I created for my December Daily Album.

Now for those of you who are new to embossing like I was only a couple months ago, here's a quick tutorial on how it works.

You'll need:
  • Embossing Powder
  • Heat Gun
  • VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad

Take any stamp of your choice and press it into the VersaMark Stamp Pad.

Next, choose your embossing powder of choice (I used Zing! Green Metallic, Red Glitter, and Silver Glitter)and sprinkle the embossing powder over the stamped image.  You'll want to do this over a tray or larger piece of paper so you can pour the excess powder back into the container.

Next, take your heat gun, I use the Zap Heat Gun, and hold it over your stamped and powdered image.  After a few seconds you'll notice the embossing powder raising and you'll get the end result...perfect!

I stamped the stamp of choice and punched out the image with the Fiskars XL circle hole punch.

Here's a close up on the embossing I did.  I love the Zing products.  Embossing is a new process for me and I'm loving it!

I believe this is my favorite, the red glitter "love this" just looks amaZing....maybe it's the awesome red color.

The green metallic is also pretty amaZing.  Here you can get a good look at how it's raised and metallic looking once you use the Zap tool on it.

Love - have I mentioned I LOVE all these embossing powders??

Great close up of my favorite red's.

Here's the little collection I made up to add to some pages throughout December.  I hope this inspires you to start your next project.  Thanks for following along!

Wedding Planning Girls Weekend - Layout

I really need to work on getting a camera to take better pictures of my layouts or get some serious lighting in my house.  I swear these photos don't do the page justice, or any in the past either.  Anyway, here is a layout I did using the Everyday Electric Collection Kit from Echo Park.  This page captures a glimpse of my girls weekend with Shayna and Tracy for wedding planning.  I'm so happy I got to be a part of the planning process and capture these moments.

Here's a full shot of the layout (remember the quality of this page isn't really showing here)

Here's a close up of my title I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I like these close up photos because you can really see the texture and see all the elements in a better light.  The title is an Ali Edwards digital file that I purchased through Designer Digitals

Here I captured the date with the stickers from the Alpha Stickers sheet.  You can also notice that the background is misted over.  I used my Calico Opaque White Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico to tone down the bright colors on the page.

Here is a close up of the elements going on in the bottom left corner.  You can notice more white misting that was done and see the dimension added with the Circles Foam Tabs by American Crafts.

Here are the supplies I used for this layout.

Layouts are coming!

Layouts are coming soon!

I've been working on organizing and cleaning up my space to sort out and realize what I have.  Let's just say, I have a lot.  Sometimes having too much is a problem because you don't know where to start.  I'm getting ready for my December Daily album and seeing all my other new scrapbook items throws me off.  I may have went a little crazy in the past month but what can I say, I love scrapbooking!  After Thanksgiving and having this weekend to relax I'm hoping to get started and feel refreshed.  I cannot wait for my office to be built in the basement, that will be amaZing.  I truly believe the space around you helps you to feel inspired and right now, my space isn't doing that for me.  I've been looking and reading a lot about organizing your scrapbook items and have picked up a few things to help get me started and I'll say it is helping.  Here's just one little peek at my organization that is starting and I'm so excited.

Being able to seeing my embellishments in cute little clear jars gets me excited to organize more.  I got these little jars in a pack of six at Michaels.  They are the Recollection brand.  Love!

A little o.r.g.a.n.i.z.a.t.i.o.n. is needed...

Have you ever gotten into such a disorganzied mess you don't even know where to start?  Unfortunately, I'm in this place right now.  My room is a disaster and I have very little space to even attempt organizing that everything just ends up on the floor.  Take a look at what I'm dealing with here...

Take a look at my closet....not helping me out at all...

Papers just spread all over the floor...

My desk area.  I can barely pull my chair out since there's paper and everything behind me too.  My desk space consists of my Silhouette and my computer, nothing else fits!

Yes, ^^^ this would be the disaster zone...

Since this room is obviously out of control I started thinking of what I could do to make this all work for me.  We have plenty of spare bedrooms right now that I could convert to an office but we always need the spare beds for visitors.  So after thinking it over and discussing some details with my dad, we're going to turn a section of our basement into my office area.  I can not wait!!!  We are going to finish off a section and my dad will build me another section to my desk so I have a nice big L shape to work with.  We'll do a wall of shelving and I'll have a lot of floor space still to spread out if necessary.  I'll have plenty of storage in the new space.  I have already bought my little Desktop Carousel for my desk and a little 3 drawer system that I'm very excited about.

A glimpse of Stevie

Happy Monday everyone!

Two of my very good friends had their birthday this past weekend and I always like to include some scrapbook pages for their album I started a couple years ago.  The layout below is of their dog Steve.  I actually got him for them as a birthday present I believe eight years ago now.  Time really flies so I love that I can capture moments like this to cherish forever.

Here's the layout "Steven"  I used October Afternoon's 9 to 5 collection and loved all the colors.

You can see I adhered the title with the circle foam tabs by American Crafts.  These are a good great "pop up" adhesive.

I love the repetition of using paper strips.  You can do this with all different papers, they don't necessarily have to be from the same company, just as long as you can make them work.

Here I added one little sticker at the end of all the paper strips; I think loyal fits perfectly for a dog.

I added a "Today" tab here, also from the October Afternoon collection, and love how it balances the "loyal" sticker in the bottom left.
Here's a list of the products I used:

Be yourself...everyone else is already taken

Happy Friday!!

Today I'm sharing a layout that I really enjoyed putting together.  I was in a creative rut and felt s.t.u.c.k.  I was searching and found a wonderful video from Wilna Frustenber that inspired me!(http://www.wilnaf.com/)  This design, luckily, broke me out of my shell.  I won't lie, I ended up having a little trouble with the Mister Hue misting sprays...I sprayed orange and then white, which mixed and made everything on my page yellow.  I was not too happy about that so I wiped and blotted my page and it gave it a soft effect that ending up working well with this page.

This image shows a close up of the title I cut on my Silhouette Cameo.  I adhered glitter to the "yourself" to make it stand out a little more.

The "else" shown here is my favorite pickup from the glitter I added.  This was a yellow tinted glitter over a slate/blue cardstock and the green turned out GREAT!

Thanks for looking!
